Can't build BookSamples.sln

description

VS 2012 Express.

When opening BookSamples.sln I get a message prompting me to contact the Codeplex Team Foundation Server to enable source control integration. I click no as I don't have access rights.

Next message is: The solution appears to be under source control, but its binding information cannot be found. Because it is not possible to recover this missing information automatically, the projects whose bindings are missing will be treated as not under source control. I click OK (only option).

Numerous output messages: "The mappings for the solution could not be found".

When trying a build I get numerous "cannot open include file . . . no such file or directory"

I've tried to install the extension "Tfs off-line" but it does not seem to work with Express version.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think this is fixed based on my testing with the Express SKU.

Randy,

I think you can safely ignore the TFS messages, although I should unbind the solution. The other issue is possibly a missing file. I will take a look at this tonight. Can you paste the build output here?

I installed a trial version of VS Studio 2012 Pro. NBody builds and runs with no errors.

Will the book samples build/run using Express?

I just installed VS Express 2012 and built both the debug and release builds of BookSamples.sln. From the build output you posted above it looks like you are missing some things off your include and library paths.

Have you installed the DirectX SDK (June 2010)? Which OS are you using? I seem to remember that there were some issues when building the samples with Win8.

I recently did some work to ensure that the samples built on various platforms. I updated the System Requirements section on the project homepage to reflect this. Let me know if you are still having issues. If not In will close this issue as fixed.
